What is Gender Dysphoria, Identity and Non-Binary?
Gender dysphoria is a term that is used to describe a sense of unease that a person has because of a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity. Typically, our gender identity refers to who we are and how we describe ourselves to others and is typically done by identifying ourselves and male or female, which are also referred to as a binary identity.
Sometimes people feel that their gender identity is different from their biological sex. For example, some people have female genitals but do not identify as female or feel feminine.
Some people do not want to define themselves with having a binary identity, meaning that identifying themselves with a gender is not relevant. Therefore; they use different terms, such as gender non-confirming or non-binary.
People with gender dysphoria generally change their appearance, interests and behavior. They also may have underlying symptoms such as low self-esteem, depression or anxiety.
If you feel that you are struggling with any of these symptoms, please reach out to us and we can talk to you about your options and get you on the right path.

What is Hormone Therapy?
HRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy can be used for a variety of reasons, but specifically when it comes to transitioning from male to female, or female to male, HRT is used to make this possible.
HRT looks different for everyone, depending on your personal needs and the state of your body when you make the decision to start transitioning.
During your first visit, we will complete a full physical, which includes blood tests, taking your blood pressure, discussing your medical history and your sexual health. From there, we will provide resources about hormone therapy.
If we are not your primary care provider, is imperative that you are consulting with them regularly so you are getting everything you need and transitioning safely. At Crew Health our providers have your best YOU at the forefront of their mind. We want to be sure that you achieve the results you want while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
There are potential risks that come with beginning an HRT regimen. However; under the regular care of a primary care provider, these risks can be managed and treatment adjusted as needed.
